Let’s turn some of the theory into practice

Theory is worth little until it survives contact with a Tuesday afternoon. Two instruments live under this page. Both are free, and neither asks anything of you before it works.

The Communication Meter

Paste a message you are about to send.

It comes back with how the message lands, what weakens it, and the negations quietly doing damage.

The Intelligent Behaviour Meter

Twenty-two ordinary situations, read through Carlo Cipolla’s four quadrants. You come out with a picture of your own pattern, or of somebody you find hard going. There is a bonus at the end. Describe a situation you are actually carrying, and get a reading of it.

At the end of either instrument you can close the tab and get on with your day. That is a perfectly good outcome.

Or you can choose to act

For anyone who wants to go further. I believe a specific set of skills, combined, produces intelligent behaviour: the kind of situation that leaves everyone involved better off. Empathy. Creativity. Communication. Focus. Capacities that thin out year by year while we run in the wrong gear.

All of them answer to practice. Thirty exercises are being written, one for each day of a month, drawn from twenty years of workshops. Subscribers hear first.
