I’m Nathalie Meier.

I grew up in a steel village in southern Luxembourg. The environment was harsh and left no room for softness. My refuge was the forest, my books and my dog.

In my family, studying was no path for a girl. I studied economics anyway, the hard way, alongside work, and spent thirty-one years in finance as a business developer. Then I left the golden cage to concentrate on what matters to me: communication, and the kind of honest exchange that is disappearing.

What has always compelled me is the message: how it lands, what it does to the person on the other end, whether it builds understanding or confusion.

Today I write the messages that have to land. The negotiation, the complaint, the change of course, the goodbye: as emails, WhatsApps, speeches, articles, newsletters or website copy, in English, French, German or Luxembourgish.

What I love most are the tough moments. Anyone can write the easy message; mine is the delicate one, where caution needs as much room as clarity. You sign and send; I stay in the background.

In acquisition as in retention, if you cannot manage fear, yours or your clients’, you have already lost. That knowledge goes into every line I write for you.

It took me all those decades of experience to identify my strongest skill: I recognise patterns. More often than not, I feel like an outsider, and that distance lets me see what insiders miss.

My writing has appeared in Paperjam and on Improof. You can test one of your own messages with my Communication Quality Meter.

The Fence Climber is the book that grows from all of it; follow the thinking on Substack.

I choose my clients carefully. They tend to do the same.
